Anirban Chakrabarti, Shreya Bhattacharya, Rayati Bhattacharya, Biswanath Basu and Lokenath Dey star in the new Hoichoi series Dugdugi. Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, Dugdugi sees Anirban and Joydeep — after delivering back-to-back hits — joining hands for this comedy-drama that promises to leave the audience in fits.

Portraying the life of a middle-class man, Abanish, this story revolves around his marital affairs. However, the plot takes a sudden twist when he discovers that his wife is missing. The situation turns into a hilariously chaotic scenario giving rise to numerous comical moments.

Abanish hails from an ordinary family in Chandernagore and aspires to fulfil his dream of embracing fatherhood. However, an unknown obstacle prevents him from achieving this goal. Despite seeking help from various doctors, they receive no solution. Abanish faces mockery from the locals in his neighbourhood regarding his fatherhood. Unfazed by these comments, Abanish defends his family’s honour but receives a call from his colleague and secret lover, Tuktuki. One morning, Abanish wakes up and finds his wife missing, leading him to search desperately with no success. Overwhelmed with panic, he pretends to the people in his locality that everything is fine. After three days, he finally musters the courage to file a missing persons report at the police station.

While the story of the series is by Ullas Mallick, the screenplay and dialogues are by Padmanabha Dasgupta.
