Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda transforms into popular comics character Archie Andrews and jams with his boy band in the music video of Sunoh, the peppy track that introduces the teenager and his gang from Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film The Archies.
Dropped by Sony Music India on Thursday, the two-minute-39-second-long video begins with Archie playing the guitar and Mihir Ahuja’s Jughead Jones flaunting his drumming skills. The song introduces the Archies cast one by one through its lyrics celebrating Archie’s bond with his best friends in the retro-themed fictional hill station of Riverdale.
As Agastya’s character begins the song, inviting listeners to get into the world of Archie, the scene cuts to Khushi Kapoor’s Betty riding a bicycle on a pavement lined up by 1960s-style houses. In the next scene, we see Vedang Raina’s Reggie sporting a leather jacket and waiting in a cab for his girlfriend. Dilton Doiley, played by Yuvraj Menda, arrives in Riverdale in a steam locomotive, while Suhana Khan’s Veronica rolls around on her roller skates. The video also shows Aditi Dot’s Ethel Muggs walking towards the hairdressing salon where she works.
Composed by Ankur Tewari and The Islanders, the song is penned by Javed Akhtar and Dot. It has Bombay-based Tejas Menon’s vocals and Zohran Miranda’s guitar soundtrack.
Zoya shared a reel of the song with her followers on Instagram. “I’m rockin’ and rollin’ past you… #Sunoh! 🛼First song from #TheArchies out now 💋,” the 51-year-old filmmaker wrote in the caption.
Set in Riverdale in 1964, The Archies is an adaptation of The Archies comics series. The film marks a number of acting debuts including those of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana and Agastya.
The Archies will premiere on Netflix on December 7.
