The official trailer for Dev’s upcoming release Tekka was dropped by the makers on Saturday. Directed by Srijit Mukherji and also starring Rukmini Maitra and Swastika Mukherjee, the hostage thriller is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 8.
The adrenaline-pumping trailer begins with the kidnapping of a young girl by Dev’s character Iqlakh. With a gun pointed at the girl’s head, he takes control of a corporate office while negotiating his demands with a team of cops led by Rukmini Maitra’s Maya.
Ira (Swastika Mukherjee), the mother of the kidnapped girl, is ready to pay any amount as ransom. But Iqlakh’s demand is unique: he wants his job back. Desperate at getting her daughter back to safety, Ira kidnaps Iqlakh’s son to mount pressure on him.
“The State machinery does not know how and when the explosion will occur. And who will orchestrate it. The stakes have never been higher, and the game is in full swing. No turning back now-are you ready,” Dev wrote on social media while sharing the two-minute-27-second long teaser.
Tekka, which marks a reunion between Dev and Srijit after Zulfiqar (2016), will go up against Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Bohurupi, as well as Pathikrit Basu’s Shastri, at the box office this Durga Puja.
Bohurupi stars Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee, and Shiboprosad. Shastri features Mithun Chakraborty, Debasree Roy, Soham Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta and Anirban Chakrabarti.
Tekka’s screenplay has been co-written by Srijit and Bhaskar Chattopadhyay. Modhura Palit serves as the cinematographer for the film, while Ranajoy Bhattacharjee has composed the music. Sung by Anupam Roy, the song Tomay Chhere Jete Parlam Koi has already garnered half-a-million views on YouTube.
