American Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has emerged as the first female artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, the music streaming platform announced on Tuesday.
Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), Spotify wrote, “Queen behavior 👑 On August 29th, Taylor Swift became the first female artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners.”
The pop star is now only behind Canadian singer The Weeknd, who became the first artist in Spotify history to reach the No. 1 position with more than 110 million monthly listeners in February. Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny maintains his position at No. 3 with 80 million, followed by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran with 77 million.
Swift took Spotify by storm with the release of her third re-recorded album Speak Now on July 7. The reimagined album also topped the Billboard 200 charts, making the singer only the third artiste in history to have four albums in the top 10 list at the same time.
The 33-year-old singer recently announced that the re-recorded version of her 2014 hit album 1989 will be out on October 27. Her Eras Tour has been extended across the US and Canada with 15 additional concerts in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto in 2024.
