American musician Taylor Swift has emerged as Spotify’s most-streamed global artist in 2023, surpassing Bad Bunny, The Weeknd and Travis Scott, revealed a statement from the Spotify Wrapped campaign on Wednesday.
Sharing a reel of Swift’s song Cruel Summer from her 2019 album Lover, the popular music-streaming platform congratulated the singer-songwriter for being Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023. “Wildest Dreams come true… Congratulations Taylor Swift on Global Top Artist 🎉🎉🎉🎉 #spotifywrapped,” it wrote on Instagram.
Swift, too, took to social media to thank her fans all over the world for their love and support. She also announced the release of a vault track — You’re Losing Me — to celebrate this occasion. “Um ok this is unreal?? I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you. Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me,” the singer wrote on Instagram alongside a cover image of the song, which is currently streaming on Spotify and other music-streaming platforms.
The musician also wrote how she had the “most fun” this year with her fans on The Eras Tour and the recent screening of her concert film. “So I was trying to think of a way to thank you, and a lot of you have been asking me to put ‘You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)’ on streaming... So here you go! You can finally listen EVERYWHERE now,” she added.
BTS member Jungkook’s Seven has reached the fourth position on Spotify’s Top 10 Songs Global list, preceded by Miley Cyrus’s Flowers, SZA’s Kill Bill and Harry Styles’s As It Was. Swift features on the list twice with her Cruel Summer and Anti-hero songs, while Selena Gomez and Shakira are also ranked No. 8 and No. 9.
