Maruti Suzuki India reported a 12 per cent increase in total wholesales to 1,79,228 units in June 2024 compared to the corresponding period last year, when it had dispatched 1,59,418 units to its dealers. Domestic passenger vehicle sales grew 3 per cent to 1,37,160 units. While sales of mini-segment cars (Alto and S-Presso) declined declined to 9,395 units from 14,054 units in June 2023, utility vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6) rose to 52,373 units last month compared to 43,404 units a year earlier. Sales of compact cars (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR) stood at 64,049 units against 64,471 units in the year-ago month. Exports surged to 31,033 units, up from 19,770 units last year.
Sales of Eeco were at 10,771 units last month against 9,354 units in June last year, while that of light commercial vehicle Super Carry stood at 2,758 units compared to 2,992 units in the year-ago period.
Audi India experienced a 6 per cent dip in retail sales during the April-June quarter of 2024, selling 1,431 units compared to 1,524 units last year. "While the supply situation in Q2 2024 has improved compared to Q1 2024; it still played a limiting factor on our sales performance," Audi India Head Balbir Singh Dhillon said in a statement. "We are confident that our supplies will normalise during the second half of this year, and we will be able to better serve customer demand," he said.
Hyundai Motor India saw a 1 per cent decline in total wholesales to 64,803 units in June 2024 compared to the corresponding period last year. Domestic sales remained stable at 50,103 units, while exports dropped by 6 per cent to 14,700 units. COO Tarun Garg highlighted that SUVs contributed 66 per cent to domestic sales, with overall sales for H1 2024 growing by 5.68 per cent. "We closed H1 of CY2024 with an overall sales growth of 5.68 per cent year-on-year. SUVs have contributed strongly, accounting for 66 percent of our domestic sales," he added.
Mahindra & Mahindra's wholesales increased by 11 per cent year-on-year to 69,397 units in June 2024. Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose 23 per cent to 40,022 units. Total exports also saw a 4 per cent increase.
JSW MG Motor India reported a 9 per cent year-on-year decline in retail sales to 4,644 units in June 2024. Despite this, the ZS EV achieved its highest-ever monthly sales. NEVs accounted for over 40 per cent of total sales, with 1,861 units sold, underscoring the growing demand for new energy vehicles.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor achieved its best-ever monthly sales with 27,474 units in June 2024, marking a 40 per cent increase from last year. Domestic wholesales were 25,752 units, while exports were 1,722 units. The company’s strong performance was driven by its SUV and MPV segments, with a strategic focus on rural markets.
Bajaj Auto reported a 5 per cent year-on-year growth in total vehicle wholesales to 3,58,477 units in June 2024. Domestic sales rose 8 per cent to 2,16,451 units, and exports increased by 1 per cent to 1,42,026 units.
Kia India’s total wholesales increased by 10 per cent year-on-year to 21,300 units in June 2024. The company sold 1,26,137 units in the first half of 2024, marking a 6 per cent growth. "We have observed a healthy month-on-month sales growth in H1 2024, averaging over 21,000 units per month. Our superior product offerings have consistently attracted customers to our showrooms throughout the year, maintaining a strong sales position," Kia India Senior VP and Head Sales & Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said in a statement.
