Actress Tabu says it was challenging for her to perform action stunts while shooting for the upcoming Ajay Devgn-starrer Bholaa, an action-drama film set for a March 30 release in theatres.

Speaking at the trailer launch of the film in Mumbai recently, Tabu said, “It is not easy to execute an action film. It’s not easy to physically achieve so much in real-time. You need a dedicated set of people to protect you. Ajay and the action team worked on me and made action easy for me. Because they have the expertise in action. So, I had to just follow their instructions.”

Tabu plays a cop and is part of several action sequences in the Devgn directorial. Although the National Award-winning actress has played cops before in Kuttey and the Drishyam franchise, this will be the first time that she will be seen in an out-an-out action film.

“I want to thank my entire action team for keeping me safe. It is scary but now my fear has been reduced by a huge percentage. I enjoy action now,” said Tabu.

Bholaa is an official adaptation of Lokesh Kanagraj’s Tamil-language film Kaithi (2019) starring Karthi. In the original film, Tabu’s character of a gritty cop was played by male actor Narain. At the launch event, Devgn shared that Tabu’s character was given more scope in the Hindi adaptation.

Talking about the difficulties she had to face while performing action stunts, Tabu said, “I have worn a sling throughout the film. That’s why performing these action sequences were even tougher for me because I did not have the support of my both hands. In the original film Kaithi, the cop character was played by a male actor, Narain. Ajay changed it to a female cop. So, it’s a proud moment for me.”

The Drishyam 2 actress also mentioned that no other actor could have been a better fit for Bholaa than Ajay Devgn. “His image is defined by his intensity. He has chosen characters that are like he is in real life. That has become his identity.”

Produced and directed by Ajay Devgn, Bholaa also features Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Vineet Kumar, and Gajraj Rao, and a special appearance by Amala Paul.
