Sushmita Sen portrays transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant’s relentless fight for the recognition of the third gender in India and journey towards motherhood in the trailer of the JioCinema show Taali.

Dropped by the streamer on Monday, the two-minute-nine-second-long trailer begins with Sushmita wearing a sari and adjusting her big bindi as she looks in the mirror. It then takes us to introduce Ganesh, the birth name of the character who is being ridiculed in school for wanting to become a mother as a grown-up.

We see glimpses of Ganesh applying a bindi on the forehead and trying on a sari. The clip then goes on to show Ganesh’s transformation of becoming Gauri as an adult. She is greeted by members of the transgender community. We also see her in the Supreme Court and taking part in TV channel debates to make the people realise the pain of the community.
