Actor Suriya has dropped a first-look poster of his upcoming film, a Karthik Subbaraj directorial tentatively titled Suriya 44.
“New beginnings..! Need all your good wishes,” the 48-year-old actor wrote alongside the poster shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The poster shows a vintage car engulfed in flames. A tree appears in the foreground with an arrow which carves through its bark. “Love, laughter, war,” reads the tagline engraved on the trunk of the tree.
Fans flooded the comment with congratulatory messages. Some of them mentioned how unexpected the announcement was following the indefinite shelving of his film Vaadi Vasal and the production delay for Sudha Kongara’s Puranaanooru. “Unexpected and a surprise combo on cards,” one of them wrote.
Sharing the poster on his X handle, Subbaraj wrote, “My Next Film is with the Ever-Awesome @Suriya_offl sir. So Pumped up for this #Suriya44.”
Subbaraj is known for directing films like Jigarthanda, the Rajinikanth-starrer Petta and Vijay Sethupathi’s Pizza. The upcoming film reportedly explores environment conservation, in line with Subbaraj’s previous works.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s upcoming film Kanguva, directed by Siva, will feature the actor in six different roles. The movie will be released in 10 languages including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil.
Produced under the banner of Studio Green, Kanguva will mark Bollywood actors Bobby Deol and Disha Patani’s Tamil debut. Release date of the period action drama has not been announced yet.
