Singing Jhoome Jo Pathaan for Deepika Padukone in Pathaan has been “an absolute joy” for singer Sukriti Kakar, who is better known for being a part of a singing duo with her sister Prakriti Kakar.
“Singing for Deepika was the joy of joys for me. I wanted to sound my best to be able to match Deepika,” the 27-year-old vocalist said.
Sukriti’s track in the film created a buzz as filmgoers danced and swayed to its tune in theatres across the country. “The first few days of Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, was no less than a festival in the country! I was visiting the theatres to see the crowd — they were always full and the audiences were cheering on the song. I saw them getting up from their seats and just going bonkers then and there,” she said.
The buzz around Jhoome Jo Pathaan months before its release made Sukriti realise the humongous craze for the song early on. “This song was recorded years ago. I kept on imagining how charismatic Deepika would look with my song. Vishal-Shekhar described to me what Deepika’s role would be in the YRF spyverse,” the vocalist added.
Sukriti recently collaborated with her twin sister Prakriti Kakar and Italian artist Matteo Bocelli on a song titled I Miss You Amore, which has been winning rave reviews and striking a chord with listeners.
