Stree 2 box office: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer horror comedy crosses Rs 400-crore mark in India

The Amar Kaushik-helmed film, also featuring Pankaj Tripathi, has minted Rs 589 crore crore gross globally

Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, minted Rs 20.20 crore nett on its 12th day, taking the film’s total collections in India to Rs 422 crore nett.

The fifth instalment in the Maddock Films’ supernatural comedy universe, also featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana, has minted Rs 589 crore gross worldwide so far.

Released on August 15, Stree 2 began its box office journey with a collection of Rs 64.8 crore nett on its opening day, including collections from paid previews. The film continued its impressive performance, raking in Rs 35.3 crore nett on Day 2 and a substantial Rs 103.9 crore nett over the opening weekend.

The success didn’t stop there as the horror comedy helmed by Amar Kaushik went steady during the weekdays, bringing in Rs 103.8 crore nett from Monday to Thursday.

Entering its second week, Stree 2 collected Rs 19.30 crore nett on Friday, followed by an additional Rs 74.55 crore nett over the weekend, ensuring its continued dominance at the box office.

Stree 2 achieved a historic milestone by recording the highest second Sunday earnings ever for a Hindi film, earning Rs 40.75 crore nett and surpassing the previous record held by Gadar 2, which had earned Rs 38.9 crore nett during the time.

With this momentum, Stree 2 is now set to challenge the lifetime collections of the Hindi version of Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2, which amassed Rs 434.62 crore nett during its theatrical run. The horror comedy is also expected to enter the Rs 500-crore club by the end of the week.
