Netflix’s upcoming Peaky Blinders film, marking Cillian Murphy’s return as Tommy Shelby, has wrapped up shooting, the streamer announced on Thursday.
“It’s a wrap - by the order of the Peaky Blinders 🎬The Peaky Blinders film has completed filming and will be coming soon, only on Netflix,” Netflix wrote on Instagram alongside a behind-the-scenes picture of Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan from the sets of the film.
Peaky Blinders follows the rise of the Shelby family’s criminal empire, led by the cunning and ambitious Tommy, in post-World War I Birmingham. The series explores their changing equation with rival gangs, their tie-ups with the government as well as their international interests.
Tom Harper, who directed all the episodes in the show’s first season in 2013, will helm the new film from a script by Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight.
The Peaky Blinders film will start production later this year. It will be a sequel to the six-season gangster drama series. The plot details of the upcoming film have been kept under wraps.
Also starring Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth, the upcoming film is slated to hit Netflix soon.
