Rona Chhod De

The song Rona Chhod De is from Humsufi’s first album, which was released a couple of years ago. The song did not have any music video then. “It speaks about overcoming negative times with a positive attitude and looking forward to a better tomorrow. This song is like a mantra for keeping yourself safe and positive during these trying times,” said Krsna Dwaipayan Mukherjee, vocalist of Humsufi, the Calcutta-based band. They collaborated with RGV Events and celebrities from Mumbai and Calcutta — television director Naved Jaffrey, actors Hussain Kuwajerwala and Shantanu Maheshwari, choreographers Diwakar Nayal, Mayuresh Wadkar, Piyush Bhagat, Sushanth Pujari, T. Krishna Mohan Reddy, Sayanta Modak, Vitthal Patil, Deepak Singh, Tanveen Sethi, Garima Nayyar, Saurabh Bangani, Vivek Jaiswal, Giriraj Rathi and DJ Akash Rohira. “We did not want to make a typical music video. We approached it differently and tried to keep the message in focus. Because of the lockdown, everyone shot and sent in their videos from home,” said Gurpreet Kaur Sethi, band manager.

Rakh tu hausla

After playing the role of a fearless cop in Mardaani 2, Rani Mukerji lent her voice to a five-minute 21-second video, Rakh tu hausla, which is written and directed by Pravin Talan. Dedicated to Mumbai, its brave police force, and the undying human spirit, the track has been composed by Nippu Khound and rendered by Swarit Nigam. From feeding stranded people to requesting everyone to put masks on, the T-Series video also features Mumbai commissioner of police Parambir Singh. The war against Covid-19 continues and the human spirit shall prevail. As the world battles on, the song is an attempt to instil a sense of togetherness.

United We Fight

Artistes from all corners of India came together to inspire and strengthen the country. The three-minute 22-second motivational song, United We Fight, is presented by The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and is written and composed by Joe Alvares. The production of the music is quite a starry affair, which includes Tubby (FunkTub), Usha Uthup, Salim Merchant, Shefali Alvares, Benny Dayal, Sonam Kalra, Chandan Bala Kalyan, Joe Alvares, Salome, Samira, Pandit Ravi Chari, Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia and Ustad Faisal Qureshi. We love the rendition, in which English lyrics weave into the notes and beats of Indian classical music. This incredible composition is said to be “spreading the essence of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.

Arivum Anbum

Kamal Haasan is spreading positivity by writing the lyrics to Arivum anbum, which means knowledge and love in Tamil. The five-minute and 22-second video shows people getting stranded with children, old people running towards a train... the reality during the pandemic. The track brings together celebrities like Anirudh Ravichander, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Devi Sri Prasad, Shankar Mahadevan, Shruti Haasan and Bombay Jayashri.

Janta Curfew

After Namaste, Baba Sehgal released his second song during the pandemic, Janta Curfew. Both songs are about requesting everyone to stay indoors. His dance might give you comic relief, but you cannot but like the song.

Hoga na corona

Dhinchak Pooja is back with her musical cure, Hoga na corona. Amidst this pandemic if you are feeling down, this song will surely lighten your mood. It’s hilarious how all six people dancing with Pooja have their masks on, while Pooja dominates without it.

Sabko Sudhara

This song may not be in Palash Sen’s music style, but the Euphoria man has won hearts with his message. Sitting in his studio, Palash urges listeners to use hand sanitisers.
