Adah Sharma plays an unconventional lawyer who takes on multiple quirky identities to solve crime cases in the trailer of the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series Reeta Sanyal, dropped by the streamer on Friday.

The one-minute-39-second-long trailer kicks off with a chilling scene of a woman murdering a couple inside their car and walking away from the crime with a sinister grin. The subsequent scenes introduce us to Reeta Sanyal, played by Adah, who assumes different roles — ranging from a journalist to an Iranian woman — while navigating complex cases.

Rahul Dev plays M. Raj Thakral, a corrupt advocate, who warns Adah against using her unconventional methods for her job. Defying his threats, she takes him head-on in court, embarking on a dark and twisted mission to expose her own client as a criminal.

“Kanoon ki har ladayi dilchasp hogi, kyunki ab maidaan mein hai Reeta Sanyal,” Disney+ Hotstar wrote in the description of the trailer shared on YouTube.

Produced by Rajeshwar Nair and Krishnan Iyer under Keylight Productions, Reeta Sanyal is based on a character created by renowned writer Amit Khan. Marking Bengali filmmaker Abhirup Ghosh’s Hindi directorial debut, the upcoming show also stars Ankur Rathee and Manik Papneja in key roles.

“A work very close to my heart. My return to the pulp genre after quite some time. And my first work in the Hindi language,” Abhirup, known for helming films like Rahasya Romancha and Byadh, wrote alongside the show’s motion monster on social media last month.

Reeta Sanyal is set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from October 14. It will be available for free to mobile users.
