Sonakshi Sinha’s debut web series Dahaad will drop on Amazon Prime Video on May 12, the streaming platform announced on Thursday alongside a poster of the film which shows the 35-year-old in police uniform.
“Only a powerful roar can uncover the truth #DahaadOnPrime, New Series, May 12,” the official Instagram handle of Prime Video wrote.
Created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the series stars Sonakshi, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah in lead roles. Dahaad is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, with Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Reema Kagti serving as executive producers on the series. It is produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby
Dahaad recently became the first Indian series to premiere at the prestigious Berlinale International Film Festival.
The eight-part crime-drama series follows sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sonakshi) and her colleagues in a small town police station. Anjali is assigned to investigate the deaths of several women whose bodies were recovered from public bathrooms. The deaths appear to be suicides at first but eventually Anjali stumbles upon evidence that indicate that the women might have been murdered by a serial killer.
What follows is a riveting game of cat and mouse between a seasoned criminal and an underdog cop as she pieces together evidence against the perpetrator.
