Sonakshi Sinha greeted Bollywood legend Rekha and revelled with her Heeramandi co-actors at the recent Mumbai screening of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix period drama, shows a video shared by the actress on Instagram on Thursday.
“Is jhumar ne kai raate dekhi. Kuch mehfilo ki roshni se jagmagi raate aur kuch faraib ki sihayi se bujhi raate (This chandelier has seen many nights. Some glittered with happiness and excitement, while others were darkened by the shadow of deceit),” says Sonakshi in the video.
Beginning with Sonakshi getting ready for the special screening on Wednesday, the video shows the actress with Bhansali and her Heeramandi co-actors Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hyadri, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah and Adhyayan Suman. Sonakshi’s mother Poonam Sinha briefly appears in the clip, which ends with scenes from the period drama show.
“Fareedan yet raat toh kabhi nahi bhoolegi (Fareedan will never forget what happened tonight),” wrote Sonakshi in the caption. She essays the role of Fareedan in Heeramandi.
Marking Bhansali’s OTT debut, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar delves deep into stories of love and betrayal experienced by courtesans residing in Lahore’s chief red-light district, before Independence. It is slated to premiere on Netflix on May 1.
