Cinegoers are eagerly waiting for tomorrow as six new films are set to arrive in theatres this Friday. These include a chronicle of teenage superheroes, a moving tale of a mother fighting against the state for her child’s custody, a romantic comedy, a love story wrapped in music and a drama involving the life of a food delivery executive. Here’s all you need to know about the English, Hindi and Bengali films releasing on March 16.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (English)

Billy Batson (Zachary Levi and Asher Angel) and his fellow foster siblings are coming to terms with the superpowers bestowed on them by the Gods. They’re struggling to balance their normal teenage lives with their superhero alter-egos. When the vengeful Daughters of Atlas (Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren) arrive on earth searching for the magic stolen from them, Billy and his siblings must fight the deadly trio.

What's Love Got to Do with It? (English)

Cast: Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson and Shabana Azmi

Zoe (Lily James), an acclaimed filmmaker in London, decides to document her childhood best friend Kazim aka Kaz’s (Shazad Latif) wedding. Kaz, who belongs to an immigrant Pakistani family, is tying the knot in an arranged marriage in keeping with the traditions of his family. During her journey, from London to Lahore, Zoe questions her preconceived notions about marriage and relationships as she attains a fresh perspective on life. The ensemble cast of the movie also includes Emma Thompson (Zoe’s mother) and Shabana Azmi (Kaz’s mother).

Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway (Hindi)

Cast: Rani Mukerji, Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta and Jim Sarbh

Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway is based on the real-life story of an immigrant Indian family in Norway whose children were taken away by the Norwegian authorities on grounds of improper treatment. Debika Chatterjee (Rani Mukerji) and her husband (Anirban Bhattacharya) run from pillar to post to get back the custody of their kids but to no avail. Debika embarks on a long legal battle to win back her children, souring her marriage in the process. Neena Gupta and Jim Sarbh appear in key roles in this legal drama.

Zwigato (Hindi)

Cast: Kapil Sharma, Shahana Goswami, Gul Panag and Sayani Gupta

Manas (Kapil Sharma) is forced to work as a food delivery executive after losing his job as a floor manager at a Bhubaneswar-based factory. He works hard to make ends meet in this world of cut-throat competition. His wife Pratima (Shahana Goswami) also explores different working opportunities — from a masseuse for rich women to being a cleaner at a mall — to support the family. Gul Panag and Sayani Gupta also feature in key roles in the film.

Ghore Pherar Gaan (Bengali)

Cast: Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Ishaa Saha, Gourab Chatterjee and Reshmi Sen

Tora (Ishaa Saha) moves to London after her marriage where she finds it hard to adjust to the high-society lifestyle thrust upon her by her mother-in-law (Reshmi Sen). Her husband Ribhu (Gourab Chatterjee) loves Tora but often fails to keep her company. A lonely Tora takes solace in music. She crosses paths with a talented musician, Imran (Parambrata Chattopadhyay), who fills the void in her life. They share a special bond based on their shared love for music.

Kabzaa (Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam)

Cast: Upendra, Kiccha Sudeepa and Shriya Saran

Set during the period of 1945-1984, Kabzaa chronicles the rise of underworld gangsters in India. Arakeshwara (Upendra), son of a freedom fighter, gets sucked into the mafia world due to unavoidable circumstances. He rises through the ranks to become the leader of the underworld. However, trouble brews for Arakeshwara as a cop, Bhargav Bhakshi (Kiccha Sudeepa), is on a mission to finish him and the underworld. Shriya Saran plays the female lead in this pan-India action thriller.
