Actress Sharvari has said she is thrilled to see the box office performance of her horror-comedy Munjya, which continues to draw moviegoers to theatres across the country.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya is based on Marathi folklore that says young boys who die within 10 days of their mundan ceremony become ghosts called Munjya. The film also features Abhay Verma and Mona Singh in key roles.

“Munjya is off to a flyer at the box office and I have to admit that I’m over the moon right now. To have a big success under my belt is, of course, a huge confidence booster for me,” said Sharvari in a recent statement.

The actress also said the movie is receiving love from all quarters. “My social media is flooded with love from across the country. That too is a huge validation for my work,” she added.

Calling herself a proud Maharashtrian, Sharvari said it is a nice feeling to see the unanimous love and appreciation received by the film rooted in Marashtrian folklore. “To see Maharashtrian folklore being celebrated on a national level and becoming a hit film makes me very happy,” she added.

Sharvari went on to thank fans for showering love on her first solo Bollywood number. “Growing up, I was glued to the big screen watching the big dance numbers play at the end of the movie. To see that people are now enjoying my song at theatres, hits differently,” she said.

Recently, Sarvaari shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoot for Munjya song Taras on social media. “I was tentative about how my first big dance number Taras in Munjya would be received by the audience and to see that people are dancing on it and enjoying the song in theatres is very encouraging for me,” she wrote in the caption.

Munjya marks the fourth instalment in the horror comedy series by Maddock Films after Stree (2018), Roohi (2021) and Bhediya (2022). The horror comedy hit the theatres on June 7.
