Shah Rukh Khan highest taxpayer among Indian celebrities in 2024

The Jawan star, who paid a tax of Rs 92 crore, is followed by Vijay, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Virat Kohli

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan emerged as the highest taxpayer among celebrities in India in 2024, leaving behind cricketer Virat Kohli and fellow actor Salman Khan, according to Fortune India.

As per a report published by the US-headquartered magazine, the Jawan star paid a tax of Rs 92 crore in the financial year 2024. He was followed by Tamil star Vijay who paid Rs 80 crore. While Salman Khan paid a total of Rs 75 crore, Amitabh Bachchan paid Rs 71 crore as tax. Cricketer Virat Kohli, who secured the fifth spot, paid Rs 66 crore as tax.

Shah Rukh headlined three films last year, including the record-breaking hits Jawan and Pathaan. Grossing over Rs 1,148.32 crore, Jawan emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023, the second-highest-grossing Hindi film and the sixth highest-grossing Indian film. Pathaan grossed Rs 1,050.30 crore worldwide, becoming the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. Dunki, starring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani alongside Shah Rukh, amassed a total of Rs 196.68 crores worldwide.

Ajay Devgn and MS Dhoni paid Rs 42 crore and Rs 38 crores, respectively, as tax in 2024. While Ranbir Kapoor paid Rs 36 crore, Hrithik Roshan and Sachin Tendulkar both paid Rs 28 crore as tax.

Other celebrities like Kapil Sharma (Rs 26 crore), Sourav Ganguly (Rs 23 crore), Kareena Kapoor (Rs 20 crore), Shahid Kapoor (Rs 14 crore), Hardik Pandya ( Rs 13 crore), and Kiara Advani (Rs 12 crore) also made it to the list.

Both Mohanlal and Allu Arjun paid Rs 14 crore. Pankaj Tripathi and Katrina Kaif paid 11 crore tax this year. Aamir Khan and cricketer Rishabh Pant paid Rs 10 crore each.

Shah Rukh will be next seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s King alongside his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. Backed by Pathaan director Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures and Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment, King is set to go on floors later this year and is expected to arrive in theatres sometime in 2025 or early 2026.
