Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 emerges as third highest Hindi opener of 2023 with Rs 42.5 crore

The Maneesh Sharma-helmed action thriller, also starring Emraan Hashmi, is the fifth film in the YRF spy universe

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 has emerged as the third-highest Hindi opener of 2023, just behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan, with an opening day collection of Rs 42.5 crore nett in India.

While Atlee-helmed Jawan managed to earn Rs 65 crore nett in Hindi on Day 1, Siddharth Anand-directed Pathaan occupies the second spot with an earning of Rs 55 crore nett on Day 1.

Tiger 3 emerged as the highest opener among the films in the Tiger franchise headlined by Salman. Ek Tha Tiger (2012), the first film in the franchise, accumulated Rs 32.92 crore nett on its opening day. Its sequel, Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), minted Rs 34.1 crore nett on the first day.

The Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer also turned out to be the third-highest opening grosser, after Shah Rukh’s Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan’s War (2019), among the five films in the YRF Spy Universe.

Tiger 3 has now become Salman’s biggest opener ever, surpassing the previous record set by Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat in 2019, which earned Rs 42.30 crore nett on its opening day. For Katrina Kaif, Tiger 3 now stands as her third biggest opener.

Directed by Maneesh Sharma, Tiger 3 features Emraan Hashmi as the prime antagonist. Additionally, it boasts cameo appearances by Shah Rukh as Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan as Kabir.
