S.S. Rajamouli’s epic period drama RRR on Saturday bagged four awards —Best Action Film, Best Stunts, Best Song (Naatu Naatu), and Best International Film— at the sixth Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) Film Awards.
Dedicating the awards to India in his acceptance speech, Rajamouli said, “To all my fellow filmmakers in India, it is for all of us to believe that we can make truly international films. Jai Hind.”
Actor Ram Charan, who accompanied Rajamouli on stage to receive the award for the best international film, thanked Hollywood Critics Association for the warm response to RRR. “We will come back with better films to entertain you all,” he said.
Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, RRR emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2022. The movie not only impressed the audiences in India but was also hailed by international filmmakers and critics.
The HCA-winning song Naatu Naatu, composed by M.M. Keeravaani, became a worldwide phenomenon and went on to win several accolades, including a Golden Globe award. It has also bagged a nomination in the Best Original Song category at the 95th Academy Awards, which will be presented on March 12.
Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran are also part of the ensemble cast of RRR.
