S.S. Rajamouli’s period drama RRR bagged two trophies —Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu— at the Critics’ Choice Awards 2023 held in Los Angeles on Sunday.
In the Best Foreign Language Film category, RRR competed against All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Argentina 1985 (Argentina), Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (Mexico), Close (France) and Decision to Leave (South Korea).
The development comes less than a week after the Telugu song Naatu Naatu from the film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. The song has been composed by M.M. Keeravani and sung by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.
Rajamouli also won the Best Director award at the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) earlier this month.
RRR released in March 2022 and was a massive box office hit, grossing Rs 1,144 crore worldwide. The film is competing for the Oscars in various categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Original Song.
