Hoichoi has dropped the teaser of its upcoming series Mr Kolketa, providing the audience with an exclusive look at Ritwick Chakraborty’s new character, Kalakallol Dutta aka Mr Kolke. After his critically-acclaimed portrayal of the eccentric detective Gora, Ritwick Chakraborty returns in a fresh and intriguing avatar. It also marks the first onscreen pairing of Ritwick with Rajnandini Paul, who plays a quirky young girl named Jhelum.

The story revolves around the protagonist, Kalakallol Dutta, affectionately known as Kolke, an enthusiastic lover and explorer of Calcutta’s history. The teaser introduces Jhelum, portrayed by Rajnandini, who is seen chasing Kolke. Kolke’s nephew, Potai, deeply admires and reveres his uncle, considering him to be a brilliant individual worthy of emulation. Together, the trio embark on an intriguing journey to unravel the concealed mysteries associated with ancient Calcutta and its precious artefacts.

“My association with Hoichoi began back in 2022 when I starred in Gora and ever since, it has become like a second home to me. One aspect I truly cherish about Hoichoi is their remarkable content. They consistently present fresh offerings every month, and I eagerly anticipate each new release. As a result, it has now become a place of belonging for me. Talking about my character Kolke, he is a remarkably distinctive individual, setting himself apart from today’s youth. Possessing an old soul, he perceives his nephew as his protege. Preparing for this role demanded extensive research into the city’s history, reaching back to an era even before British influence took hold,” said Ritwick.

“Jhelum holds a profoundly special significance in my heart because it allowed me to explore a role unlike any I’ve played before. Being paired with Ritwickda was truly a dream come true, considering I have long admired his exceptional acting skills,” said Rajnandini. Mr Kolketa will be streaming from September, on Hoichoi.
