In the two-minute-51-second long trailer of the Ayan Mukerji fantasy-adventure drama, starring newly-wed couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan narrates that the story is about the lord of Astras – Brahmastra. The trailer opens with Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover narration about the Astras – water, wind, fire. He reveals more that the story is about the lord of the Astras- Brahmastra and a modern-world boy who must discover that the destiny of Brahmastra depends on him.

In the trailer, we also get to witness the sizzling chemistry between the lead pair Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who play Shiva and Isha. Shiva reveals to Isha that he has a strange connection with the fire, and it can’t burn him. He reveals more that there are some ancient weapons of light and a group of warriors protecting them but there is darkness as well, as there are people who are trying to get hold of Brahmastra.

Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) has the power of fire, one of the astras. In the film, he soon gets to learn about his powers and his life turns around. There are evil and dark forces helmed by Junoon (Mouni Roy), who he would have to take on with the help of Amitabh Bachchan (Guru) and Artist Anish (Nagarjuna Akkineni) to save Brahmastra. Hence, we would witness a few fantasy-adventure staple elements such as good vs evil and love and hope. Brahmastra maker Ayan said in a statement, “Marking the beginning of a new cinematic universe, ‘The Astraverse’, I believe Brahmastra is the kind of film that the country would feel really proud of. It touches on our roots. Celebrates our rich culture and it takes us forward with our technology.”

Tollywood star Chiranjeevi dubs for the Telugu version of the trailer.

The Ranbir-Alia biggie, produced by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures will release in 5 Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada – on September 9.

Fan speculation is floating around that the man holding the trishul is Shah Rukh Khan. We would need to wait for the film's release for the final reveal.
