Actor Rajkummar Rao, who is currently riding high on the success of Stree 2, has begun shooting for his new project Maalik, he announced through an Instagram post on Saturday.
“#Maalik ki duniya mein aapka Swagat hai. Shoot shuru ho chuka hai, jald hi mulaqat hogi,” wrote the 39-year-old actor, sharing a poster of the upcoming film.
The poster shows Rajkummar standing on top of a police jeep with a gun in his hand. "Even if we are not born leaders, we can become one" — these words are written across the poster.
Directed by Bhakshak director Pulkit, Maalik is produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani under the banners of Tips Films and Northern Lights Films. Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya serve as the music composers for the upcoming film, while Amitabh Bhattacharya serves as the lyricist.
On the work front, Rajkummar reprised his role as Vicky in Stree 2, a sequel to the 2018 horror comedy helmed by Amar Kaushik. Also starring Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee, the sequel to the horror comedy has already earned Rs 442.35 crore nett at the domestic box office since its release on August 15.
Rajkummar will also be seen opposite Triptii Dimri in the 1990s-set film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film focuses on the chaos in a small town when a VHS tape containing an intimate video of Vicky and Vidya goes viral. Additionally, the actor is expected to team up with Wamiqa Gabbi for the romantic comedy Bhul Chuk Maaf.
