Rajinikanth’s Jailer earns Rs 450 crore worldwide, becomes third-highest grossing Tamil film of all time

Only Shankar’s 2.0 and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part I have collections higher than the Nelson Dilipkumar-helmed actioner

Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer has emerged as the third-highest grossing Tamil film of all time with a collection of Rs 450 crore worldwide during its first week in theatres, according to latest trade figures.

Besides the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial, Shankar’s 2.0 (lifetime collection of Rs 723.30 crore) and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part I (lifetime collection of Rs Rs 498 crore) are the only Tamil films to have crossed the Rs 450-crore mark globally.

Jailer, which released in theatres on August 10, registered an opening day collection of Rs 50.50 crore nett in India, followed by Rs 28.50 crore nett on its first Friday, Rs 38 crore nett on its first Saturday and Rs 45.50 crore nett on its first Sunday.

The film remained strong on weekdays and earned Rs 30.50 crore nett on its first Monday and Rs 41.50 crore nett on its first Tuesday. With an additional Rs 19.50 crore nett on its first Wednesday, the total domestic collection of Jailer now stands at Rs 254 crore nett.

The cumulative worldwide earnings of Jailer have now reached an impressive Rs 450.80 crore.

Jailer has been performing phenomenally well in Tamil Nadu, where it has collected approximately Rs 117.50 crore in the first week. The film has earned Rs 53 crore in Andhra Pradesh-Telangana, Rs 39.50 crore in Karnataka, Rs. 36.25 crore in Kerala and Rs 7.75 crore in north India, as per Box Office India.
