Writer-filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is set to direct his 10th and last film this fall as the Pulp Fiction director has already penned the script of the film titled The Movie Critic, reports American entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, The Movie Critic will be set in Los Angeles during the 1970s and feature a female lead. The project, however, isn’t attached to a studio yet.

It has been speculated that the film could focus on the life of famous film critic Pauline Kael, who was known for her sharp and witty reviews that often went against mainstream opinion. Kael had a very brief tenure working as a consultant for Paramount, a position she accepted at the behest of actor Warren Beatty.

Tarantino had previously expressed his desire to retire from filmmaking after 10 films at the age of 60. However, the two-time Academy Award winner had also mentioned that he could direct limited series or plays. In 2021, he published his first novel, a novelisation of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

One of Hollywood’s most celebrated directors, Tarantino has made nine films to date since making his directorial debut with 1992’s Reservoir Dogs. His impressive filmography includes Pulp Fiction (1994), Jackie Brown (1997), Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003), Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004), Death Proof (2007), Inglorious Bastards (2009), Django Unchained (2012), The Hateful Eight (2015) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
