Bollywood enthusiasts can take a trip down memory lane with PVR Cinema’s The Nostalgic Show initiative under which handpicked cult-classic Hindi films like Pyaasa will be screened in theatres on April 20 and 21, the cinema chain announced on Thursday.

Directed by Guru Dutt, Pyaasa, a 1957 release, follows the story of Vijay (Dutt), a struggling poet who faces rejection from society as well as his lover. Amidst his hardships, he finds solace in Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman), a prostitute, but ultimately chooses his art over material success.

The cast of Pyaasa includes Guru Dutt as Vijay, Waheeda Rehman as Gulabo and Mala Sinha as Meena. Johnny Walker and Kumari Naaz also feature in the film.

The last film festival at PVR Cinemas which took fans down memory lane was Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) Nostalgia Film Festival that screened Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Chak De India in select PVR-INOX theatres across the country from January 19 to 22.

PVR screened Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge along with Mohabbatein and Veer-Zaara as part of the festival from February 9 to 15.

In April last year, PVR Cinemas screened Amitabh Bachchan’s Amar Akbar Anthony at the price of Rs 150.
