New bride Kriti Kharbanda was left emotional by the sight of her husband Pulkrit Samrat cooking halwa for her family in Bangalore and penned a long note to explain how the “simple” gesture actually breaks the pehli rasoi tradition meant only for women.

The actor couple tied the knot in a wedding ceremony at the ITC Grand Bharat in Manesar, Haryana, on March 15.

“Pulkit ki pehli rasoi happened yesterday. I walked into the kitchen and realised he’s making halwa. I asked him what he was doing, and he casually responded, ‘Halwa bana raha hoon, it’s my pehli rasoi’,” Kriti wrote alongside pictures of her husband cooking in the kitchen with a big smile.

Kriti went on to write how her husband discarded her suggestion that the pehli rasoi tradition is only carried out by women. “That’s so silly, we’ve both decided to share equal responsibility in this relationship. You cooked for our family back home in Delhi, I’ll cook for our family here in bangalore. Simple,” Pulkit responded to her suggestion, leaving her emotional.

“He used the word simple. Yes. So casually he changed everything around and used the word simple. And in all honesty it was. It was that simple,” she wrote, adding that the Fukrey actor is the “best thing that has ever happened to her”.

Pulkit’s deep commitment to equality in married life with Kriti has garnered numerous comments from fans who applauded the actor for breaking the stereotypes. “Sweetest thing ever ❤️ breaking the norm,” one of them wrote. The actor’s Fukrey co-star Ali Fazal dropped a red heart emoji in the comments section.

Kriti and Pulkit shared screen space in Anees Bazmee’s 2019 comedy Pagalpanti and have also worked together in Bejoy Nambiar’s Taish. Pulkit was last seen in Fukrey 3, while Kriti starred in 14 Phere which came out in 2021.
