Actress Priyanka Chopra on Wednesday reflected on her journey in the Citadel global spy universe, recalling how she was introduced to the world of the spy series in 2018 by Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, even before she was married.
Taking to Instagram, the 42-year-old actress shared a poster featuring all the lead characters from the Citadel universe. In her post, she mentioned that the spy thriller series tried to “connect the world together through storytelling”.
“I was brought onto the journey of Citadel early 2018 by @jennifersalke , before I was even married. Feels like so long ago! But I’ll never forget being mesmerised by the ambition of the show. To actually connect the world together through storytelling,” the actress wrote.
Priyanka went on to admire how the Citadel universe connects filmmakers, actors and writers across the world. “Now, to finally see the world of Citadel, expanding as originally conceptualised so many years ago, is so gratifying. To have such talented film makers from around the world create stories that are global but also local and at the same time interconnected, is very cool,” she added.
Thanking her cast and crew members, the actress signed off by saying, “I’m so grateful to be on this journey with all the incredible cast and crew from around the world.. here’s to much more to come.”
The original Citadel series, starring Priyanka and Richard Madden, follows the conflict between the titular spy agency and its powerful enemy syndicate Manticore. The spy action thriller also stars Rahul Kohli, Michael Trucco, Merle Dandbridge, Stanley Tucci, Matt Berry, Gabriel Leone and Lesley Manville in key roles.
The first season of Citadel premiered on Prime Video on April 28, 2023 and became the fourth most-watched series worldwide on Prime Video 24 days after its release.
The latest instalment in the Citadel universe is Raj & DK’s Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The series premiered on November 6. Prior to the Indian chapter, the Italian version Citadel: Diana, starring Matilda De Angelis, hit Prime Video on October 10.
Priyanka is currently shooting for the second season of Citadel, which will be directed by Joe Russo.
