Prabhas’s character in the upcoming dystopian fantasy-adventure film Kalki 2898 AD is called Bhairava, the makers announced on Friday alongside a new poster featuring the Salaar star in a superhero-like avatar.
“From the future streets of Kasi, Introducing ‘BHAIRAVA’ from #Kalki2898AD. In theatres worldwide on May 9, 2024,” production house Vyjayanthi Movies wrote on Instagram alongside the poster.
The poster shows a side profile of Prabhas in a black-and-brown ensemble and a futuristic headset. With hair tied up into a bun, the actor sits inside what seems like a dusty factory and ruminates on something. He flaunts his triceps. His arms carry two black stripes.
Sharing the poster on Instagram, Prabhas wrote, “His name is...... ‘BHAIRAVA’.”
Fans immediately flooded the comments section and expressed their excitement for the upcoming film. “Bhairava, you are the game changer of Indian cinema,” one of them wrote.
“A modern-day avatar of Vishnu, a Hindu god, who is believed to have descended to earth to protect the world from evil forces,” reads the official synopsis of the film on IMDb.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Kamal Haasan in key roles. Santhosh Narayanan serves as the music composer of the film, while the cinematography is done by Djordje Stojiljkovic.
Kalki 2898 AD is currently in the process of shooting. Prabhas and Disha recently jetted off to Italy to shoot a new song for the film. The entire cast of the film struck a pose in front of a private jet that flew them to Italy on Thursday.
Apart from Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas will also star in Maruthi Dasari’s upcoming horror film The Raja Saab alongside Malavika Mohanan, Niddhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar.
Disha, on the other hand, will be seen in Dharma Productions’ upcoming action thriller Yodha. The 31-year-old actress will share screen space with Sidharth Malhotra and Raashii Khanna in the movie.
