On International Coffee Day, we match our fave sip with our fave TV character

We love these sips and we love these characters; so we thought, why not put them together? Here’s a mix and match of our favourite coffees and the screen characters that are a perfect fit.

Mocha

With a mix of cappuccino and hot chocolate, served with fresh cream and chocolate syrup on top, this is the most sinful drink on this list! We need people just as sweet and warm for this drink, and who better than Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) from New Girl, who is as comforting as this all-time fave?

Flat White

This drink orginated from Down Under and it is basically cappuccino without foam or chocolate. The no-fuss, no-nonsense approach to the much-needed daily caffeine fix reminds us of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) from Scandal. She means business, and she lets the people around her know this.

Americano

This drink is made of one shot of espresso that forms one-third of the beverage and the other two-thirds is hot water. It is dark, but not as bitter and difficult to get used to as the other espresso drinks. We thought that Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) from How to Get Away with Murder fits perfectly, because although she can be quite tough, and she often does terrible things, she means well.

Latte

With one shot of espresso and equal amounts of steamed milk and foam, a latte is a sweet and milky hot drink we all love. It reminds us of Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) from Riverdale who has her difficulties but, for the most part, is sweet, supportive and likeable.

Ristretto

This drink is basically espresso with half the amount of water, so it is very bitter indeed. We couldn’t help but think of BoJack Horseman (Will Arnett) from BoJack Horseman, since although he’s a very relatable character, he’s bitter and thoroughly dissatisfied with every part of his life, including his love life and his career.

Betty Cooper from Riverdale

Long Macchiato

Two shots of espresso infused with a dollop of steamed milk and foam give this drink a complex taste with multiple textures. We thought our favourite desi villain, Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) of Sacred Games, can be described similarly, given how dark and ominous his character is apart from that one soft spot for his beloved Kukoo.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation

Piccolo Latte: One shot of Ristretto with an equal amount of steamed milk and half the amount of foam make up this very strong, but still quite milky, drink. Remember Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) from Game of Thrones? Is he not like this type of coffee, because he is just as strong and wholesome?

Espresso

This strong drink is the basis of most coffee preparations, whether hot or cold. The ideal espresso shot should be thick and viscous, kind of like honey. We think that Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) from Marvel’s Jessica Jones is the perfect fit for this kind of coffee, because like it, she is strong, bitter and cynical.

Double Espresso

Also called Doppio, this drink is basically two shots of espresso in one glass. It is very strong and it reminds us of Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) from House of Cards, since she is dark and full of secrets, like this drink.

Peter Kavinsky from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Short Macchiato

With one shot of espresso infused with a dollop of steamed milk and foam, this drink is bitter-sweet, with a mellowed-down espresso taste. We thought of April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza), the eternal cynic from Parks and Recreation. Her love for Andy is like the dollop of sweetener that makes us love her even more.

Walter White from Breaking Bad

Affogato

This delicious dessert is basically just one big scoop of vanilla ice cream, with one or two shots of espresso. It is an utterly yummylicious, feel-good preparation and it immediately reminds us of Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) from the Netflix movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. We can all agree that he is just as delectable as this dish!

Cappuccino

Coffee plus chocolate — what’s not to love? One shot of espresso, with an equal amount of steamed milk and twice the amount of foam, and a generous helping of chocolate shavings on top, make up this very sweet, milky and frothy drink. We thought of Bob Newby (Sean Astin) from Stranger Things. He was a nice, polite, uncomplicated and loveable character whose life ended tragically, and we still miss him.

Irish Coffee

This is a double shot of espresso with one shot of whisky and a thick top layer of cream. So under the sweet and harmless top layer hides a lot of darkness and trouble! Who wouldn’t think of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) from Breaking Bad? He, too, hid his demons under a harmless exterior.
