Nithya Menen appears as a ‘soup girl’ in a first-look poster of her upcoming Tamil fantasy drama Dear Exes, dropped by the makers on Monday on the occasion of the actress’s 36th birthday.
The film will mark the directorial debut of Kamini, a former assistant to director Vishnu Vardhan.
Sharing the film’s poster on X, filmmaker Venkat Prabhu wrote, “Very happy to launch the Bask Time Theatres and POPter Media Production No. 1 first look #DearEXes.”
In the poster, Nithya Menen appears in traditional attire, holding a beverage in one hand and her phone in the other, displaying an incoming call from her ‘ex’. The tagline in the poster says, “Let the magic begin.”
Promising to be a blend of fantasy and romantic drama, Dear Exes will feature Prateik Babbar, Vinay Rai, Navdeep and Deepak Parambol in significant roles. Preetha Jayaraman will oversee cinematography, while Shanmugaraja will handle art direction. The project is financed by BGN, Aditya Ajay Singh and Ramki.
“We have seen a lot of soup-boy stories on the big screen. For a change here is a soup-girl story brewing up, a refreshing take of a slice-of-life movie, reflecting a girl’s perspective on relationships,” POPter Media Network had posted on Instagram last month while announcing the project.
Nithya Menen was last seen in the T. K. Rajeev Kumar’s Kolaambi in 2023. Alongside Dear Exes, she is slated to feature in another romantic film, Kadhalikka Neramillai, alongside Jayam Ravi under the direction of Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi.
