NFDC Satyajit Ray-themed poster design contest winners revealed ahead of IFFI, Goa

The shortlisted poster designs will be put on display at the International Film Festival of India in Goa

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has revealed the winners of its online film poster design competition held in honour of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray ahead of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which will take place from November 20 to 28 in Goa.

A total of 75 best film poster designs were shortlisted by a jury panel, comprising filmmaker Shyam Benegal, painters Anjolie Ela Menon, Radha Binod Sharma, Prakash Bal Joshi, Shukla Sawant and animation film designer Dhimant Vyas, from a total of 635 submissions. The theme of the contest was ‘The One and Only Ray’.

In the poster designing competition, Sayak Das was awarded the first prize, while Varad Godbole and Aniruddha Chatterjee came second and third, respectively. The winners will be awarded cash prizes worth Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively, during IFFI.

Appreciating the initiative, Union information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur said, “I extend my congratulations to the three winners as well as to the 75 top poster designers. I also extend my appreciation to the jury for their time and thoughtful selections. The 53rd IFFI is set to bring in a whole new experience for movie-lovers from around the world — the excitement is catching on!”

Ravinder Bhakar, managing director, NFDC India, said that the poster designing competition was held to mark the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the 100th birth anniversary of Ray. “Everything came together and we now have our top 75 winners. We hope the general public will praise the film poster designs that will be on display at the 53rd IFFI.”
