Netflix’s Choona trailer promises a heist comedy series with Jimmy Sheirgill’s greedy politician at centre

Helmed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, the show also features Aashim Gulati, Namit Das and Chandan Roy

Seven individuals from different walks of life hatch a masterplan to steal Rs 600 crore from Jimmy Sheirgill’s greedy and manipulative politician in the trailer of Netflix’s upcoming heist-comedy series Choona.

Unveiled by the streamers on Tuesday, the two-minute-36-second-long trailer introduces us to a greedy politician called Shukla (Jimmy Sheirgill), whose aim is to become the next chief minister. Then we see seven individuals — an astrologer, a lover, a police officer, a student leader, a police informer, a mute man and an alcoholic — who have been humiliated by the rowdy politician despite their best efforts to please him. They form an unlikely brotherhood, planning to steal Rs 600 crore from Shukla’s party office without getting caught.

The trailer promises a gritty crime thriller filled with hilarious jabs and high-octane drama. Created, written and directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, the series also features an ensemble cast that includes Aashim Gulati of Taj: Divided by Blood fame, Namit Das of Rocket Boys fame and Chandan Roy of Panchayat fame.

Choona will arrive on Netflix soon, though the streamer is yet to unveil the date.
