Netflix India on Tuesday announced that it has renewed its crime thriller series Khakee for a second season and struck a wider creative partnership deal with show creator Neeraj Pandey’s Friday Storytellers.
“Aap bulayein aur hum na aayein?! Katta aur kaanoon ki kahaani ka dusra padaav - Khakee returns for season 2!” wrote Netflix India on X to confirm a second season for Khakee with a short video.
The first season — Khakee: The Bihar Chapter — topped Netflix India’s list of top 10 shows for more than five months after being launched in November 2022. Set in Bihar’s Sheikhpura district, the crime thriller show followed an IPS officer’s journey to bring down a criminal gang. It featured Karan Tacker, Avinash Tiwari, Abhimanyu Singh, Brijeshwar Singh, Jatin Sarna, Ravi Kishan, Nikita Dutta and Ashutosh Rana.
Friday Storytellers is the streaming production arm of Neeraj and Shital Bhatia’s motion picture house Friday Filmworks. It is also behind titles such as Disney+ Hotstar special Special Ops and Voot Select’s Bandon Mein Tha Dum!
Neeraj Pandey and Friday Storytellers are currently gearing up for the release of their upcoming espionage action thriller series The Freelancer. Starring Mohit Raina, Anupam Kher and Sushant Singh, the series is set to arrive on Disney+ Hotstar on September 1.
