Netflix has greenlit the second season of Kohrra, sharing a collage of Mona Singh and Barun Sobti to confirm that the actress has joined the cast of the crime thriller series.
“A new mystery. A new investigation. The fog will clear soon. Kohrra Season 2 is coming soon, only on Netflix,” the streaming platform wrote in the caption.
The first season of Kohrra follows the death of an NRI and explores its impact on those investigating the crime and the families affected by it. Also starring Suvinder Vicky, Varun Badola, Harleen Sethi, Rachel Shelly and Manish Chaudhary, the six-episode series hit Netflix on July 15, 2023. Barun is set to reprise his role as young police officer Garundi in the upcoming sequel.
Directed by showrunner, producer and co-creator Sudip Sharma along with Faisal Rahman, Kohrra Season 2 will dive into another murder mystery in the backdrop of fog-filled Punjab. Produced by Act Three Productions and Film Squad Productions, the second season will also mark Sudip’s debut as director and producer.
Mentioning that Kohrra is “more than just a show for them”, Sudip said, “We’ve poured everything we have into this story, and seeing the love it has received is incredibly moving. It’s inspired us to come back with something even more powerful.”
“Kohrra has been a show that has been loved, lauded and has a cult following almost! Fans are eagerly awaiting Season 2 and we are delighted to announce that we are soon going into production for the same,” Tanya Bami, head of series at Netflix India, said in a statement.
Kohrra recently bagged the best web series trophy at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards India.
