Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey will voice late singer-actor Elvis Presley in Netflix’s upcoming adult animated action-comedy series Agent Elvis, set to premiere in March, the streamer announced on Monday night.

Commissioned in August 2019, the series follows Elvis’ journey as an undercover spy working for the US government while he continues to lead his life as the cultural icon, popularly known as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Created by Elvis’ wife Priscilla Presley along with John Eddie, Agent Elvis comes from Sony Pictures Animation, Sony Pictures TV and Authentic Brands Group. Archer co-writer Mike Arnold serves as the writer and showrunner of the show.

“Elvis Presley always dreamed of being a superhero — now, Priscilla Presley is making his dream a reality! Matthew @McConaughey stars in Agent Elvis, a new animated series created by Priscilla Presley and John Eddie. Premieres March 2023,” Netflix said in a tweet.

In the one-minute-23-second-long teaser, the show promises a thrilling roller coaster ride with Elvis. In the short clip, Elvis goes to the moon and then goes through gruelling training to become a secret agent. He is aided by his trusted sidekick, a gorilla.

McConaughey, who won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as an AIDS patient in the 2013 biographical film Dallas Buyers Club, also tweeted a poster of the show.

“Elvis Presley always dreamed of being a superhero — now, Priscilla Presley is making his dream a reality! Agent Elvis, a new animated series created by Priscilla Presley and John Eddie. Premieres March 2023. @netflix,” he wrote.

The series is the first adult animated show from Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
