The release dates of several Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series, including Hawkeye (2021) and WandaVision (2021) sequels, have been pushed to 2024 owing to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, US-based entertainment magazine Deadline has reported.

The release dates of other MCU films like Anthony Mackie-led Captain America: Brave New World and Fantastic Four have also been reportedly affected by the strikes.

Several actors and writers in Hollywood have extended their support to Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, bringing production to a standstill in many studios. The striking organisations have been demanding better compensation and limited use of artificial intelligence since May this year.

As a fallout of the strike, the sequel to the 2021 miniseries Hawkeye, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfield, will be released in January 2024 instead of November this year, while the second season of WandaVision will premiere around October next year.

According to Deadline, the highly-anticipated animated series X-Men ’97, a sequel to the ’90s X-Men film series, which is expected to merge its storyline with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), will now come out in 2024 instead of this year.

The release dates for Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart and Wonder Man, which were previously slated to release in 2024, are now delayed indefinitely.

Apart from its Disney+ series, Marvel Studios has also delayed the release of films like Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Blade, Fantastic Four, and the next two Avengers crossovers, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

However, the second season of Loki remains unaffected by the strikes. It will premiere on October 6 as planned. The second season of the animated series What If…? will also be released in December this year.
