It was three decades ago that Madhuri Dixit stole hearts in a purple-and-golden lehenga choli as she danced to the Didi Tera Devar Deewana track from Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Cut to 2024, the actress, now 56, has recreated her look from the popular song that featured her alongside Salman Khan in the 1994 Sooraj Barjatiya directorial.
The Didi Tera Devar Deewana track, originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubramaniam, became a smash hit back in the mid-’90s, making its way to most Indian weddings and house parties. Madhuri had set a fashion trend with the lehenga she wore in the music video of the song.
“Thank you to the creative geniuses behind the scenes for making the impossible possible! Recreating my iconic look was a triumph,” Madhuri wrote alongside the montage on Friday.
The video shows The Fame Game actress striking poses in the stunning ensemble, which she accessorised with a maang tikka, danglers and a stone-studded statement neckpiece. The Jigar Mali outfit was styled by celebrity stylists Mohit Rai and Tarang Agarwal. Madhuri’s dewy makeup and a loose bun further complemented the elegant ensemble.
Madhuri recently turned heads at Lakme Fashion Week as she grooved to live music and strutted down the runway in a fusion pantsuit by Ranna Gill on Day 5 of the event. She serves as a judge for Season 4 of the dance reality show Dance Deewane, which premiered on Colors TV on February 3.
