Dharma Productions on Thursday released the trailer for the much-anticipated martial-arts action film Liger starring Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda, who makes his debut in Bollywood with this film.

Helmed by Romantic director Puri Jagannadh, the film is billed as a pan-India project and will release on August 25 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

The 33-year-old Arjun Reddy actor shared the trailer on Twitter and wrote, “India, We give you Mass. Action. Entertainment. The LIGER Trailer! https://bit.ly/LigerTrailer #LIGER #LigerTrailer Aug 25th Worldwide release!”

Apart from Vijay, Liger also stars Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy, Mike Tyson, Makarand Deshpande and Ramya Krishnan. The film’s trailer is being launched across Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Megastar Chiranjeevi, alongside Prabhas, launched the Telugu trailer, Dulquer Salmaan unveiled the Malayalam trailer and Ranveer Singh released the Hindi trailer on Friday.

What’s in the trailer

The two-minute-two-second-long trailer introduces Vijay’s character and takes us into his wild world. It begins with him entering the ring, with Ramya Krishnan’s voice briefing the reason behind the name ‘Liger’ for her son. “My son is a crossbreed, born to a lion and a tiger,” she announces.

It’s an emotional ride as Vijay’s character faces numerous challenges in his quest to win an MMA championship and represent India. One of his biggest issues is that he stammers, which drives him crazy and causes him to act erratically when he enters the ring. Underneath an underdog story, Liger also promises to have a passionate love story.

The trailer ends with a killer look from Boxing legend Mike Tyson. The former heavyweight champion makes a stylish intro, followed by a dialogue exchange with Vijay. When Vijay says, “I’m a Fighter,” Tyson, in reply asks, “If you’re a Fighter, what am I?”

The production quality and the cinematography look solid in the trailer. The background score with different sounds adds to the action-packed shots.

Puri Connects is producing the movie, in collaboration with Dharma Productions. Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta together are bankrolling the film on a grand scale.
