Onko Ki Kothin, the upcoming film by Saurav Palodhi is about the dreams nurtured by three children from the underprivileged sections of society. Ekta golpo bolo, the second song from its soundtrack that dropped recently, is an emotional song that captures their feelings as they grow up with a keen understanding of the adversities surrounding them.
Unlike Chaap niye labh nei, an upbeat, rap-style song from the film’s soundtrack released earlier, Ekta golpo bolo is more serious and contemplative. Written and composed by Debdeep Mukhopadhyay and rendered in the impassioned, heartfelt voice of Lagnajita Chakraborty, the song embodies the hopes and fears, dreams and despair of the children and of the people of the milieu to which they belong. It shows the three kids — Babin, Dolly and Tyre — navigating the hardships of life and living in hopes of a better future. An innocent and endearing entreaty of a child to his mother to tell him a story, the song hits hard for its starkly realistic lyrics and its undertones of sadness. It lays bare the maturity of the children, who are acutely aware of their lot. A spirit of positivity and optimism however uplifts the mood of the song despite its poignant understanding and expression of their condition.
Through the tale of the three children, the song captures the daily fight for survival of the poor and deprived sections of society. It is emotional and heart-touching, and embodies their sorrows and sacrifices, which they hope will serve as the building blocks to brighter, happier days ahead.
