The makers of Laapataa Ladies on Saturday shared a behind-the-scenes video of filmmaker Kiran Rao from the sets of the film in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, in her directorial return decades after her last film Dhobi Ghat in 2011.
The 37-second-long video gives glimpses of the on-set interactions between the cast and crew. Calling Kiran an “the enthu cutlet”, the clip features the filmmaker laughing and joking with everyone on the set.
Kiran also cuddles a puppy before putting on the director’s hat, showing the actors how to perform their roles, prompting actress Nitanshi Goel to talk about the nurturing presence of the director. “She’s like my second mother on the set,” said the young actress, who recently featured in the Shilpa Shetty-starrer Sukhee. The video ends on a heartwarming note with Nitanshi expressing her love for Kiran following a scene of the film’s wrap.
What appears to be a comment on Kiran’s on-set approach, the post’s caption reads, “ ‘Thoda kaam, thoda fun’ is @raodyness’s mantra on sets.”
Produced by Jio Studios and Aamir Khan Productions, Laapataa Ladies also features Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav and Ravi Kishan. It is set to release in theatres on March 1.
