The first look of Sara Ali Khan-starrer Prime Video original film Ae Watan Mere Watan, a Dharmatic Entertainment production, has been unveiled on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23.
Sara plays the role of a freedom fighter in this movie based on the 1942 Quit India Movement. In the trailer, the actress, wearing a khadi sari and puffed sleeve blouse, is seen delivering a powerful dialogue in front of a radio in a room with closed curtains. The trailer ends with loud banging on the door, which startles Sara’s character.
Karan Johar took to Instagram to introduce the film with the caption ‘an ode to the unsung heroes. an ode to India’s freedom struggle’. Sara, who shared the trailer on her social media handle, wrote, ‘So privileged, honoured and excited to be telling a story that we truly believe deserves to be heard.Jai Hind 🇮🇳’
Produced by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta, Ae Watan Mere Watan, also featuring American actors Richard Bhakti Klein and Alexx O'Nell, is directed by Daud and Ek thi Daayan fame Kannan Iyer.
The film is inspired by true events and its date of release is still under the wraps.
