Filmmaker Karan Johar calls Alia Bhatt his “first daughter” and reveals he is part of two Whatsapp groups for Bollywood “moms” in the teaser for the first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2, set to stream on Netflix on September 21 with new episodes dropping every Saturday.

Dropped by the streamer on Wednesday, the teaser shows Vedang Raina joining Alia and Karan on the show along with Vasan Bala to promote their upcoming thriller Jigra. The subsequent scene shows them engaging in a fun game.

Later in the video, Alia recreates her iconic “Mere boyfriend ke saath gulu gulu” dialogue from 2019’s Gully Boy after Kapil’s team member Kiku Sharda, dressed up as Gangubai from Alia’s 2022 movie Gangubai Kathiyawadi, prompts her with the question “Tu Maari Kaiko”.

The video ends with host Kapil Sharma talking about a girl’s presence in Ranbir Kapoor’s life before Alia.

Earlier this week, Netflix had dropped a trailer for Season 2 of the chat show featuring Team India skipper Rohit Sharma and Ananya Panday’s mother Bhavana Pandey.

Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Jr NTR also set to appear as guests in one of the episodes ahead of the release of their film Devara on September 27.

The first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show premiered on Netflix on March 30 and concluded on June 22. The 13-episode chat show featured celebrity guests like Ed Sheeran, Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sania Mirza, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Badshah, Diljit Dosanjh, Imtiaz Ali, Parineeti Chopra and the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.

The audience response to the first season of the comedy chat show was lukewarm. The first episode with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni garnered 2.5 million views. In the second week, the number of viewers increased slightly to 2.6 million views. However, with the third episode’s release, the show dropped to the eighth position, amassing only 1.7 million views. The fourth episode, featuring the Kaushal brothers — Vicky and Sunny — garnered only 1.2 million views, causing the show to slip to no. 8 on Netflix’s Top 10 chart.
