Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber has shared an update on his health condition with his fans, days after the popular Peaches singer disclosed that he was suffering from a partial facial paralysis caused by a viral infection.

In a statement posted on his Instagram Story, the 28-year-old singer said he is gradually recovering from the rare medical condition, which has resulted in one side of his face being paralysed.

“Wanted to share a little bit of how I’ve been feeling. Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me,” Bieber wrote.

“I am reminded he knows all of me. He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and he constantly welcomes me into his loving arms. This perspective has given me peace through this horrible storm I am facing. I know this storm will pass, but in the meantime, Jesus is with me,” the Yummy singer wrote.

Bieber shared the news of his partial facial paralysis in a video message posted on his Instagram on June 10. The singer had announced that he was pausing his ‘Justice World Tour’ due to the illness.

In the video, Bieber had shown how he was unable to move one side of his face as a result of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, the medical condition affecting the singer. He shared that the condition was caused by a viral infection that affected the nerves in his ears causing paralysis.

The Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is caused by the same virus that causes shingles and chickenpox, the varicella-zoster virus. The neurological disorder causes weakening or stiffness of affected facial muscles preventing the sufferer from smiling, frowning or shutting the eye, which Bieber displayed in his video. Aside from paralysis, the condition can cause rashes, headaches and hearing loss.

In his earlier video, the Baby singer had shared that he would be taking a break for an uncertain period of time. The recovery period from the syndrome can range from a few weeks to even months depending on the extent of the condition and other factors.
