Actress Rakul Preet Singh shared her experience of working with Kamal Haasan and Siddharth in a behind-the-scenes video dropped by the makers from the sets of Indian 2 on Tuesday.
“Actress @rakulpreet invites you behind the scenes of #Indian2. Uncover the dedication, hurdles, and memorable experiences that brought this masterpiece to life,” production house Lyca Productions captioned the video posted on Instagram.
Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 vigilante action movie that featured Kamal as an ageing freedom fighter who turned vigilante and fought against social problems.
“When I first got the call for Indian 2, I was like wait, what Hindustani, I saw Hindustani back in school. I was elated,” said Rakul in the video.
The Doctor G actress also mentioned that she was thrilled to be working with Kamal and Siddharth. “There are so many outstanding people to be working with in this film. Kamal Sir. Of the 100 years of Indian cinema, he has been there for 75 years,” she said.
The Yaariyan actress went on to appreciate director S. Shankar’s storytelling. She added how Indian 2, despite being a Tamil film, had a fan base in Mumbai. “To work with Shankar Sir and Siddharth and Kamal Sir and the entire cast and crew is obviously a cherry on the cake,” she added.
The behind-the-scenes montage captures Rakul sharing a moment of mirth with Shankar as the latter guides her during the filming. The actress is seen bonding with the other crew members of the film.
The video also features Kamal, who reprises his role as freedom fighter-turned-anti-corruption crusader Senapathy from the original film. A number of scenes show Rakul shooting a scene with Siddharth.
Also starring Kajal Aggarwal, S. J. Suryah, Bobby Simha, Vivek and Priya Bhavani Shankar in key roles, Indian 2 will be released worldwide on July 12 in three languages — Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Jawan music director Anirudh Ravichander will score the music for the movie.
The technical crew for Indian 2 includes cinematographers Ravi Varman and R. Rathnavelu, editor A. Sreekar Prasad, production designer T. Muthuraj and visual effects supervisor V. Srinivas Mohan.
