Actor Hrithik Roshan has heaped praise on the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-helmed biopic 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr, calling it a “masterclass in filmmaking”.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Fighter star on Sunday wrote, “Finally saw 12th Fail. It’s quite a masterclass in film making. Above everything else I was inspired by the use of sound and sound effects play in enhancing the moments.”
Expressing his admiration for Chopra’s storytelling, the 50-year-old actor added, “Mr. Chopra, what a movie. Thank you for the brilliance. I am deeply inspired by this one.”
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also dropped an appreciation post congratulating Chopra on “breaking all conventions of mainstream cinema”.
“The faith the filmmaker has in himself and his actors and his storytelling...A filmmaker at the peak of his storytelling and at this age...Means I have hope too...A new benchmark has been set by VVC for filmmakers like me who have been feeling a bit lost, “ wrote Kashyap on Instagram alongside a poster of the film on January 12.
12th Fail, chronicling the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma who overcame extreme poverty to become an IPS officer, released theatrically on October 27 last year.
Following its OTT release on December 29, the movie claimed the top position on the IMDb list of the highest-rated Indian films of all time, surpassing even the highest-grossing Hollywood blockbusters Barbie (rated 6.9) and Oppenheimer (rated 8.4).
12th Fail is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
