Hansal Mehta’s Netflix series Scoop and its leading lady, Karishma Tanna, bagged top awards at the prestigious Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2023 held in Busan, South Korea.
Scoop was declared the Best Asian TV Series, while Karishma took home the Best Actress award. The awards ceremony took place as part of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF23).
Sharing the exhilarating news on X, Mehta thanked everyone who was involved in the making of the series. “Two nominations and two awards for #ScoopOnNetflix at @busanfilmfest - Best Asian Series and Best Lead Actress for incredible @KARISHMAK_TANNA. Huge honour for the entire team. Thank you team @MatchboxShots, team @NetflixIndia, and the brilliant #Scoop team. Official post soon! But we are overjoyed,” he wrote on the microblogging site.
The director also posted a picture in which Karishma, adorned in a shimmering black sari, is holding her award.
Scoop, based on Jigna Vora’s book Behind Bars In Byculla, is a gripping narrative that revolves around the trials and tribulations faced by the fearless crime journalist Jagruti Vora, portrayed by Karishma. It premiered on Netflix in June.
