Indian actor Govinda’s quirky Superman avatar from the 1988 film Dariya Dil has caught DC chief James Gunn’s attention after a music video of the foot-tapping Hindi song Tu Mera Superman was shared by an Instagram page on the platform.

Gunn shared a clip of the video, which also features Kimi Katkar as Spider-Man, on his Instagram stories on Thursday, reacting to the crossover between Marvel and DC.

The video features Govinda dressed as Superman, a character from DC comics and his co-star Kimi Katkar dressed as Spider-Man, a character from Marvel comics.

They are seen romancing and dancing in a park. Govinda's character sends a man flying into the clouds with a punch. He single-handedly takes down a bunch of goons before flying off with Kimi. The two later join a crowd in a park for a dance.

Directed by K. Ravi Shankar, Dariya Dil also stars Roshni and Raj Kiran.

On the work front, Gunn recently announced that he has wrapped up filming for the DC Studios’ Superman movie. Starring David Corenswet in the lead role, the film is slated to hit theatres on July 11, 2025.

Govinda, on the other hand, made a foray into the digital space with the launch of his own OTT platform Filmy Lattu in June.

The actor made his debut in 1986 with the film Ilzaam. The 1990s marked the peak of Govinda’s career. He formed a successful collaboration with director David Dhawan, resulting in a series of blockbuster comedies such as Coolie No. 1 (1995), Hero No. 1 (1997), Raja Babu (1994) and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998).

Despite facing a career slump in the early 2000s, Govinda made a successful comeback with films like Bhagam Bhag (2006) and Partner (2007). The 60-year-old actor was last seen in the 2019 comedy film Rangeela Raja.
